Cyr Joseph Blanchard passed away in at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the age of 70 years. A celebration of his life was held at the Chapel of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 with Gary Sulz officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C., 201 - 635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B3, in memory of Cyr.


Cyr was born in Causapscal, Quebec on May 21, 1943. He spent most of his young life working all over North America, before settling in the 1970‘s in Revelstoke with Rita and opening his own company Ramrock Drilling & Blasting. He operated his own company for 20 years, before continuing employment as a driller for various mining companies up until this past year. His favorite pastimes were watching hockey, walking Buddy and catching up with his numerous friends.


Cyr was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Aleida and his brother, Boris. He is survived by his wife, Rita; his faithful companion, Buddy; his brother Jermaine (Jocelyn), sisters, Isabelle, Giselle, and Leoni; step-children Randy (Debbie) Clarkston, Kim (Maria) Clarkston, Cal Clarkston, Garry (Brenda) Clarkston and Jane (Orville) Robinson as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his nephews; Armando (Andrea), Derek (Janine), Alain, and Edwin (Sofia) for whom Cyr stepped in as a father when his brother Boris passed away.
