David Albert Cashato beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend passed peacefully on Sunday July 28, 2013 at 90 years of age.

Dave is survived by his strong and devoted wife of 64 years Amy, daughter Janice, son Robert and daughter-in-law Kathy, grandchildren Reed and Ashton. He was predeceased by his parents: Louis & Mary Cashato; siblings: Danny (Verna) Cashato, Clarence (Mary) Cashato and Vera (Frank) Sampson as well as his son-in-law, John Ramlall.

Dave started his career working alongside his father in the Revelstoke brewery. He proudly served in WWII, from being in Jamaica to fighting on the front line in Europe. He then began a career with the CPR; in the early days he was a hostler and then worked as a machinist in the CPR shops until his retirement.

Dave was so fortunate to live 87 years in the town he was born in and loved – Revelstoke. He enjoyed a life filled with family and friends; the kitchen table was his “office” so to speak and there was nothing better than when his nieces, nephews, family and friends gathered for coffee. Dad was a soft spoken gentle man – one of the kindest you would ever have the pleasure to meet, his quick wit was fun to be around. Becoming a grandfather was one of the defining moments in Dave’s life, it allowed him to be a kid again and he adored not only his grandchildren but all the kids in his life, Super Dave, Uncle Davey or Papa were the names he went by.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Thursday morning, August 15th at 11 am with Father Aaron de Dios celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Mackenzie Columbarium of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.

We would like to thank the staff at Oakside, Salmon Arm and also Creekside Landing in Vernon where Dave spent the last few months of his life for the care they provided him. As Dad would say, “thank you kindly” to all those who made his life so rich, especially you Amy!
