Donald Amos "Don" Crawford passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at the age of 77 years.
There will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Pythias bursary fund. Cheques may be made out to The Revelstoke Community Foundation with a notation at the bottom - For Knights of Pythias bursary in memory of Don. Mailing address is Box 189, Revelstoke, BC V0E 2S0.
Don was born in Penticton, B.C. on August 6, 1943 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1964.
In his younger years Don was a door-to-door milkman and commercial delivery driver for NOCA Dairy. His last employment was bus driver for School District #19 and he was well-loved and respected by students and staff alike.
Don will be most remembered for being Santa in Revelstoke when the real one couldn't make it to town. This was something he willingly did for over 38 years with much love. Don was a long-time member of the Knights of Pythias and D.O.K.K. and ran the club's Bingo for many years. He was also an Auxiliary RCMP member and then served as a Guard at the local RCMP station.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, walking with his walking poles, gardening, building Hope Chests and most recently, his McDonald's coffee group. Don was loved by the neighbourhood children who enjoyed his company, regardless of their age.
Don was predeceased by his parents Frank and Doris, his niece Christina Minifie as well as his beloved dogs Cindy, Patches, Harry and Meg. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Geri of Revelstoke; brother Maurice; cousin Richard Crawford (who was like a brother) of Penticton; sister-in-law Judy Minifie of Revelstoke; nephew Shawn Correnti (Kathy Conne) and their children Sebastien and Isabella of Nelson; great nieces: Samantha Shore (Curt Lowey) and their children Kashton and Declyn of Revelstoke, Breeana Hartley (Alec Milne) of Revelstoke and Amanda Hartley and her son Chase of Revelstoke; his very good friends Sal and Claudette Tangaro of Okotoks, Alberta as well as numerous extended family members and a host of good friends and wonderful neighbours.
Don's family would like to thank Dr. Haines and the physicians and staff of Queen Victoria Hospital, as well as those of Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for the wonderful care. A heartfelt thanks to Chrissie & Gary of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion.
