June 25, 1951 - July 16, 2022
In loving memory ~
Edwin Michael "Ed" Mariash passed away at Mount Cartier Court in Revelstoke on Saturday July 16th, 2022, at the age of 71 years.
Ed was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on June 25, 1951. He grew up in Saskatchewan and went to university in Saskatoon where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree. After graduation Ed found employment in Edmonton, Alberta where his girlfriend, Diane, was working. They married in 1974 and moved to St. Albert where they raised their four children. Ed was a loving father who did not shy away from long car rides to drive the family to visit grandparents, go on ski holidays, or volunteer as a scout leader so that he could go on adventures with his kids. Although he was not fond of the water himself, he enjoyed driving the boat to tow the kids on water skis, wake board or the tube.
Diane and Ed moved to Tobiano, BC when they retired in 2010. Ed continued to volunteer within his new community. Ed was a well-respected member of the volunteer fire department in Tobiano for 12 years. He was also a member of the Tobiano golf course. As an avid golfer, he played as many as 100 rounds per season! Ed also enjoyed downhill skiing in Revelstoke and at Sun Peaks where he was a member of the "Sun Peaks Antiques". Ed continued to be adventurous in retirement, enjoying travelling and exploring new countries, such as RVing across Australia and safari camping in South Africa.
Ed is survived by his wife, Diane, and their four children: Michael (Kim), Heather (Christian), Rianne (David), and Sherri-Ann (Shawn). Ed's parents, Ann and John Mariash, predeceased him.
The family would like to thank Lorraine Lines, nurse practitioner, Dr. Mantanaj, the rehab staff, and all those that cared for Ed at RIH.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Kate McCarroll and the staff of Mount Cartier Court for the excellent care that Ed received.
There will be no formal funeral service.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
