June 11, 1929 - January 11, 2019
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Gerry on January 11, 2019 in Vernon, BC. He was born on June 11, 1929 in Glentworth, SK. Gerald grew up and attended school in Saskatchewan until moving to BC in 1948 where he began a long career with CP Rail.

He began in the Cranbrook area on steam locomotives as a wiper and firemen and then moved to Revelstoke where he later became a locomotive engineer. He had a reputation as an excellent engineer and mentored many new railroaders in the challenging mountain subdivision.

Gerry enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing on the Arrow Lakes. He also loved travelling, gardening, golfing and curling in his spare time. He passed his love of adventure and the outdoors onto his children.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife Dolly, son Del (Laurel Lay) of Falkland, daughter Virginia of North Vancouver, three grandsons: Ryan, Nicholas and Jackson; as well as his brother Barry, nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his sisters: Betty, Lois and Donna. Gerry had a wonderful relationship with his wife Dolly. They shared a mutual love for their children, gardening, preparing meals together, walking every day, and the adventure of international travel.

Their's was an extraordinary love story. Married for 66 years, they never tired of each other and of their daily life together. They took the good with the bad and maintained a united front for whatever might face the two of them. In their latter years they embraced in sickness and in health and forever loved and supported each other.
