In loving memory ~
Irene was born on May 11th, 1922, in Cranbrook, B.C. and passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2023, in The Hamlets at Vernon at the age of 100 years.
Irene will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dale (Sharon) Gastaldin; nephew, David (Valerie) Ethier; great-nephew, Graham (Ashley) and their daughter, Penelope Ethier; along with many other nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; and two sisters, Betty and Fanny.
Irene and her family moved from Cranbrook to Revelstoke where she completed high school and met the love of her life, Leo. During wartime, Leo enlisted in the Air Force and Irene moved to Vancouver to work at St. Paul's Hospital. At the end of the war, they were married in Vancouver and then moved back to Revelstoke. In later years Irene worked in the lab at the Revelstoke Hospital and then for the Doctor's Medical Clinic. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.
Retirement years for Leo and Irene started at Mara Lake where many family and friends gathered for the holidays and summers spent by the lake. From Mara Lake, they then moved to Vernon where they enjoyed another new home and were able to spend many winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Irene will be greatly missed by her family and friends along with her "off the wall" sense of humour.
In respecting Irene's wishes, she was cremated and no service will be held. A special thanks is extended to Irene's long-time friend Alice and The Hamlets at Vernon 4th Floor Care Aides and Staff. A heartfelt thank you to Marcie and Roxanne for their friendship, kindness, and compassion given to Irene.
