BATTEN, IVOR.

The family of Ivor Batten wishes to announce his

passing on October 16th, 2008 at the age of 101years.

He was sadly predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Marion (nee Wilmot) in 1997. Ivor is survived by family in Kelowna and the United States.

He was born in Bath, England in 1907 and immigrated to Calgary with his parents and two brothers in 1912. His career was centered around the CPR whom he worked for in Revelstoke for 39 years only interrupted by his service during WW2. There he was active in the Anglican Church, Boy Scouts and the Canadian Club. Upon his retirement from the CPR in 1972 he then spent a couple of years working for the City of Revelstoke, finally retiring in 1976 and moving to Osoyoos where he and Marion lived until 1996. Always avid golfers, curlers and bowlers they enjoyed their life there until at ages 89 & 91 they decided to slow down and move to Kelowna to be closer to family. Right up until the end Ivor enjoyed his time in Kelowna and especially liked living at Hawthorn Park where he made numerous friends over the 12 years he was there. The family will be hosting a Memorial for Ivor at Hawthorn Park on Thursday the 27th of November at 2:00pm. No flowers please - should you wish you may donate in his memory to a charity of your choice.
