Jacqueline (Jackie) Lola Crowell (Micielli)

1933-2011

Passed away peacefully in St. Mary’s Hospital on October 31, 2011. She will be very missed by her husband, Stan Crowell; her daughter Jo-Anne (Takashi) Ogawa; granddaughters Breanna and Angela; great-grandchildren Reimi and Jordan; brother Dennis Micielli; and many relatives and friends who loved and cherished her very much.

Jackie was born and raised in Revelstoke, BC, the second of four children born to Guy and Jenny Micielli. She lived the first 53 years of her life there, where she was an intricate and familiar part of the community. Jackie and Stan moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1985, then the following year they embarked upon a new business, Marina Pharmacy in Madeira Park, BC. Jackie dedicated the next 13 years to getting to know their valued customers and providing them with warm, kind and professional service that reflected her true personality.

She connected on a very intimate level with animals, especially dogs. Peppy and Thatcher will be so happy to have her back to spoil them again! As a diversified music lover, from artists like Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti to Usher and NSYNC, she never missed an opportunity to attend their concerts if she could; and truly “rocked out” or “got down” more than most of the young people there! She sang in the Glee Club and church choir. She loved her private time in the comfort of her home and spent the remainder of her free time in her garden.

Those who knew Jackie appreciated her stylish fashion sense, her humour and quick wit, her ability to carry on a conversation (on being the key word), her loyalty and her amazing kindness and generosity. Keeping true to her character, she chose Halloween and beautiful fireworks as the time to say goodbye to us … or, you could say, “She went out with a bang!”

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jackie’s life at an informal gathering which will take place at Living Faith Lutheran Church, at the corner of Highway 101 and Whitaker Road in Davis Bay, on Sunday, November 13, from 2pm to 4pm.

Special thanks from the family to Dr. Robinson, all the home care workers, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as the paramedics and Father Vincent Nguyen.

Donations may be made on Jackie’s behalf to the BC Cancer Society.
