Doris Jean Henderson (nee Needham)

April 15, 1927 – March 22, 2010


Jean, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at Arbor House in Salmon Arm, BC with her family at her side.


Born and raised in Revelstoke, BC, Jean attended Normal School in Victoria and took a teaching position in Golden, where she began to raise a family with Bruce. Living in Donald, Redonda Bay, Golden, Cranbrook, Oyster River, and finally in Sicamous and Salmon Arm, Jean led an active, community-minded life. Volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, crafting, golfing, curling, travel and photography were always high on her priority list.


Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bruce and grandson, Tyson. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Bob (Karen), Gord (Wendy), Wayne (Lori) and Al (Andrea); nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie Needham of Seattle and Bev Wiege of Revelstoke.


The family would like to thank the very caring and compassionate nurses and caregivers at Arbor House.


A gathering to celebrate Jean’s life was held at the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Monday, March 29th.
