In Loving Memory ~
Joan Crich passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at the Belvedere Care Centre in Coquitlam, BC.
She was predeceased by her husband Glenn and is survived by her three sons Matthew (Cindy), Buck (Janet) and Tim (Melissa) as well as four grandchildren Jessica, Courtenay, Tyler and Cameron as well as Great Grandchildren Nash, Sloane, Laken, Liam, Hallie, Salem and Elijah.
Joan was born in 1930 in her beloved town of Revelstoke BC in The Queen Victoria Hospital. In her teen years and later, she represented Revelstoke very well be being crowned Miss Revelstoke and later that year she advanced to the Banff Winter Festival where she was crowned Queen of the Winter Festival.
During the construction of the Trans-Canada Highway through the Rogers Pass east of Revelstoke in the early 1960's her and husband Glenn moved to the summit of the Pass where her three sons spent their formative years. She was enthralled with the majestic beauty of the Selkirk Mountains and became an absolute authority on the history of the area and the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, at the turn of the 20th century.
Further pioneering adventures awaited when Joan and Glenn moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1974 to begin construction work on the world's largest Oil Sands plant.
Mom lived life with passion, style and charm with the focus constantly being on family where she made each one of us feel special and loved, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Finally, their retirement years found them settling in Steveston where they made many friends within the Steveston United church. Joan was the Japanese wedding coordinator which was an area of ministry she truly and thoroughly enjoyed.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Belvedere Complex Care for the excellent care they provided, loving our mom like their own.
Mom and dad will be celebrated and laid to rest in the Mountain View Cemetery in Revelstoke in the spring of 2025.
