1948-2022  ~  After a very brave and fierce battle with ALS, it is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mom, sister and friend, Joanne Kass on January 18, 2022 in Kelowna General Hospital.
Joanne was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1948 and moved to Revelstoke in 1957. She was a Revelstokian through and true, even after she moved to Kelowna in 1998.
Joanne was a pillar of strength for her children, siblings, and friends. She inspired many with her resolve to conquer any challenge that came her way.
Through her pure determination and courageousness Joanne faced ALS with such grace, positivity, and tenacity. When many would be broken, she remained strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Joanne.
Joanne is survived by her children Kim, Mike (Cindy and the apple of her eye, granddaughter, Addison), Travis along with her sisters Mary Ross, Marleen (Hugh) Brown, Marg Ross, brothers Bryan (Margo) Kozak, Digby Ross, David Ross, and her many nephews and nieces. She will also be remembered by numerous friends.
She is predeceased by her mom, Mary Ross, brother Tim Ross, and sister Flo Rabbit.
Joanne's family would like to express a heartfelt appreciation to each one of her Interior Health workers, doctors, and ALS team. Your kindness and support will not be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be set for later this spring. For those wishing to honour Joanne's memory with a donation, please consider donating to the ALS Society of BC.
