LAY, John Westwick passed away suddenly at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the age of 81 years.


John was born in South Norwood, England on September 14, 1928. He immigrated to Canada with his wife, Margaret in 1955 and began a career with the Highways Department in Pouce Coupe, BC. From there, he worked in Fort St. John, Quesnel, Revelstoke and Salmon Arm retiring in 1988 as District Manager after a 33 year career.


John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Margaret; daughters, Carolyn (Kerry) Phillips of Australia and Laurel Lay (Del Williams) of Victoria; son, Paul (Emily) of Vernon; and six grandchildren, Nicola, Ryan, Nicholas, Jackson, Katrina and Samantha. Also surviving are his brother, Donald (Susan) Lay and nieces, Penny and Tamsin of England.


A celebration of John’s life will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, September 10th at 2:00 pm with Capreece Bowers, celebrant.
