Krystyna Hass (nee Panasiewicz)

1929-2016


Krystyna died peacefully in Mt Cartier Court Dec 26. She is predeceased by her husband Tadeusz (Ted) and her brother Zdzislaw. Krystyna is survived by her children and grandchildren, Alexandra and her children with Dane, Calder and Arden, Zofia (Peter) Leah and Kasia and Peter(Margie) Christopher and Joelle.


Krystyna was born in Studziencza, Poland. When WWII erupted her hometown became occupied by the Russian Army. In 1940, the family was transported by train to a Siberian camp near Lake Baikal. She lived there until the Poles were given amnesty. Krystyna then began her journey to freedom moving along with the refugees through Kazakhstan, Tehran, Jerusalem and finally landing in Northern Scotland. Years later she moved to London. There she met, Ted, they married, started a family and immigrated to Canada in 1965.


In Calgary, Krystyna was very involved with the Polish Community, her garden and her crafts. She and Ted moved to Burton, BC after retirement, where she had a beautiful garden with many happy birds. In 2005 they moved to Revelstoke. Krystyna continued with her crafts, gardening and volunteer work.


Krystyna; Mom, grandmother and friend, will be sorely missed.


Funeral mass will take place Wednesday, January 4 11:00a at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Revelstoke.
