Maura Clough passed away at Mt Cartier Court in Revelstoke BC on Tuesday March 18, 2008. Prayers were recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Tuesday evening, March 25th followed by the Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Maura’s life on Wednesday March 26th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Ramon Basilla celebrant. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. In lieu of flowers, people may donate to the Heart and Stroke foundation or the SPCA in Maura’s name

Maura was born on June 1, 1939 in Dublin Ireland and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1965. She lived at Rogers Pass from 1968 to 1974. Maura was an active member of her community. She was involved with the Multicultural society, bowling, as well as a volunteer with the NDP. Maura was also a block parent, and a member of the epilepsy support group in Revelstoke. She volunteered as a bookkeeper for St Francis church for over 19 years, and was a reader as well as a member of the Religious education committee. Maura truly enjoyed her many friends that she met, and although her Irish heritage was a prominent part of her life, being a Canadian citizen was most important. The last 10 years of her life she lived at Moberly Manor and Mt Cartier Court and enjoyed the many people that she met while living there.

Maura was predeceased by her father, Edward Newe in 1949, her infant son Seamus in 1966, her mother-in-law Elizabeth Clough in 1969, her father-in-law, Irvin Clough in 1982, her mother Katherine Newe in 1984 and her husband of 34 years, Ned in 1999. She is survived by her daughter Maeve Clough and son- in- law Greg Robinson and grandsons Seamus and Owen of Calgary, Alberta, as well as her son Irvin and daughter-in-law Marian and grandson Mason Clough of Kamloops BC. She also leaves behind many life-long friends, including Rose Lund who was always there to lend a hand
