Merlin Cumming died suddenly in Revelstoke, B.C. on Saturday, August 1st, 2009 at the age of 50 years. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Eagle River Secondary School in Sicamous, B.C. on Friday, August 7th with Mr. Jack Bowers officiating. Cremation. Interment of the cremated remains followed in the family plot of the Solsqua Cemetery, Sicamous. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation, 938 West 28th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 4H4, in memory of Merlin.


Merlin was born in Salmon Arm, B.C. on April 26, 1959 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1991. He was an active businessman who was well-known and well-respected throughout B.C. Merlin loved muscle cars and rock and roll music. He was always there to help others whenever asked but was also known to assist people anonymously without the need for recognition. Merlin loved his wife and boys and they were the light of his life. He was described by his family as being “the best” – an attribute that can be confirmed by many friends and business colleagues.


Merlin is survived by his beloved wife Charlene of Revelstoke; his two boys Conrad and Tanner of Sicamous; parents Dave and Vera Cumming of Surrey; two brothers: Jim (Judy) Cumming of Sicamous and Robert (Marge) Cumming of Kelowna; three sisters: Diane Jackson of White Rock, Frances (Willis) Jordan of Creston and Janet (Gary) Rosenfelt of Surrey; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and many, many friends and colleagues.
