Mike Martiniuk passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Mike's remains were laid to rest in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke at a family service.
Mike was born in Iron River, Alberta on August 7, 1940 and has been a long-time resident of Revelstoke since a young boy. He was the dedicated and much- loved Fire Chief and he fought and extinguished fires of many notable landmarks in his 35 years of service to the City of Revelstoke. Mike enjoyed fishing, camping at Hall's Landing and travelling. He was Captain of the Selkirks Hockey Team, curled with the fire department and was involved in Minor Hockey. Mike especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren and his special friend Luna the Cat.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, siblings Helen, Kay, John and Mary and his brother-in-law Ralph. He is survived by his wife Joan of 61 years of Revelstoke; two sons: Rick (Dawna) and Jim, all of Revelstoke; two grandchildren: Amy of Kamloops and Aaron of Revelstoke; sisters: Nellie of White Rock and Annie of Bonneville, Alberta; brothers Bill of Powell River and Pete of Salmon Arm; in-laws Pat and Karen (Fred), all of Revelstoke, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
No flowers, all donations can be made to the Revelstoke Hospital Auxiliary.
