It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, Morley McElree on July 28, 2022, at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke, B.C., with his daughter by his side.
Morley was born August 31, 1931, in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He is predeceased by both his parents, Elsie and Thomas McElree, brother, Melvin McElree, sister Iris Goulet as well as his son, Thomas (Tommy) McElree in 1977.
Morley is survived by his daughter Linda (Bryon) Holdener of Revelstoke, his son Melvin McElree of Palm Springs, California, and his grandson Tyler (Sasha) Holdener of Edmonton, Alberta, his sister Elsie Mae (Lloyd) Schick of Kelowna and brother Ken McElree of Regina as well as many nieces and nephews.
Morley started working for CP rail in 1960 as a fireman, shoveling coal in the old steam locomotive for the first few years until becoming an engineer in 1962.
In 1958 Morley married Shirley (Gabel) in Regina where they began their family.
In 1972 Morley moved his family to Revelstoke and continued to work for CP rail until retiring in 1988 when he took his final train with his family by his side at Rogers Pass, B.C.
In his earlier years, Morley enjoyed many salmon & halibut fishing trips to Bamfield as well he enjoyed Saskatoon and huckleberry picking, golfing, cross country skiing, curling, bowling, and DIY home improvements.
In later years he enjoyed a good game of crib, fishing for kokanee, maintaining his beautiful flowers, going for coffee at McDonalds and always watching his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders play as well as many winter vacations to Thailand.
The family would like to thank Dr. Molder, the nursing staff at QVH and numerous home care workers for their dedicated and compassionate care of Morley in his last chapter of his life.
A graveside service was held for Morley on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Mountain View Cemetery where he was laid to rest with his son, Thomas (Tommy).
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
