Paul Salva was born in Szalona, Borsod Megye, Hungary on October 15, 1927 and passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital on May 14, 2011.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years Sophie, his daughter Carolyn (Paul) Avon of Braeside, Ontario, his sister Margaret Warner of Kamloops, two sons and their families. Also cousins and families and numerous faithful friends.

Paul arrived in Canada with his mother and sister in 1936 to join his father in Revelstoke and where he has resided ever since except for a few years away obtaining his Teachers’ Degree. He taught the first year in a small country school in Smithers, BC, and the rest in Revelstoke at all the elementary schools and the last years at the Revelstoke High School from where he retired in June 1985. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Elizabeth Salva.

Paul enjoyed the outdoors and loved his garden. After retirement he took up curling and golfing until health issues prevented him from taking part. He enjoyed travelling and in spite of his health problems enjoyed a visit to Washington to see the tulips just a few weeks before his death.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 1P6 in his memory is appreciated.


A Memorial Service was held at the Revelstoke United Church on Friday, May 20, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Jones officiating.
