April 23, 1950 - August 13, 2020
We regretfully announce the passing of Penelope Gail (Pennie Bank) Jones in the Burns Lake Hospital on August 13, 2020 at the age of 70 years.
Pennie was born April 23, 1950 in Salmon Arm B.C., moved to Revelstoke as an infant and lived there until 1964; then moved to Burns Lake with her parents. She had three children with her first marriage and later got remarried to Ken Jones. They had a blended family of five children.
Pennie worked at various jobs in Burns Lake and enjoyed the outdoors. She also belonged to Burns Lake Search and Rescue group. Pennie got her license as a marriage Commissioner and over the years married over 60 couples. She was an auctioneer and often delegated her family to pitch in and help. Pennie was the auctioneer for Ducks Unlimited when they came to Burns Lake, for a number of years as well. She received many pins and a Bronze Duck with a plaque "Ducks Unlimited" attached.
Pennie was diagnosed with MS in the early 1990's and eventually gave up the auctioneering and the marriage commissioner license in the mid 2000's. She kept busy although limited. Pennie got to take the Olympic torch when it came to Burns Lake and proudly drove it down the street in her electric wheelchair. She got a puzzle book published "Pennie's Puzzles" and it did very well. Although in a wheelchair most of the time, she kept her sense of humor.
Pennie loved doing crafts and making things out of wood. Toy boxes, painted stools to sit on, and planters among other things. She was always on the move in her wheelchair until her health started to decline in the last couple of months and eventually was in the hospital.
Pennie was predeceased by her parents Cecil and Lucy Banks, an infant sister Leona and a nephew Keith. She is survived by her husband Ken, children Curtis Patterson, Cliff (Angie) Patterson, Carren (Randy) Wilson, Dale (Cheryl) Jones and Brian (Joni) Jones. She has seven grandchildren and two great grandsons. Also, her sister Dorothy (Don) Pegues of Revelstoke and brother Doug (Phyllis) Banks of Tofino as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Arrangements were in the care of the Vanderhoof Funeral Parlour.
