July 10, 1946 - December 15, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Thomas Tracy at the age of 78 years, on December 15th, 2024, with family members by his side.
Ron is survived by his wife; Rosemary, daughters; Catherine Tracy and Colleen Tracy, his constant companion dog; Honeybears and cats; Tiger and Rosie. He also leaves his sister and her husband ; Juanita and Ken Moore and their family, and his brother in law; Joseph Fuoco.
He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws, several cousins and many dogs and cats.
Ron was born in Princeton, B.C. and spent his youth in various places in the Vancouver area. Summers were spent in Revelstoke with his cousins, enjoying daily visits to Williamson's Lake and outdoor neighborhood activities. In 1965 he briefly lived here and attended R.S.S. In 1971 Ron returned to Revelstoke and he remained here until his passing. He met Rosemary in the bowling alley, and they were married in 1973. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in July 2024.
Ron was employed by the Ministry of Highways as a machine operator from 1972-1988. He continued to work for the private road maintenance companies, retiring in the early 2000's. Ron was a conscientious worker who took pride in maintaining the highway from Albert Canyon to the East gate.
In his youth Ron had a pilot's license and had many motorcycles over the years. He also enjoyed many outings in his rowboat and sailboat. He was an avid reader and made frequent trips to the library to get nonfiction, science and history books. Ron's other hobbies were building model boats and model railroads.
In recent years, Ron looked forward to riding his Yamaha motor scooter around town and outlying areas. He especially loved his daily rides to the top of Mt. Revelstoke in the summer.
Throughout his life, Ron always had a strong love for animals and nature, and he cared for 15 dogs and 6 cats, many of them with medical needs. He found abandoned and injured animals, or we should say, they found him. The dogs always went with Ron as he explored the many forests and trails in and around Revelstoke. He would often be seen walking with as many as 3 dogs, at Bridge Creek, the Illecillewaet Greenbelt and other areas.
Those who got to know Ron could see his love of animals, love of nature and his sense of humor.
Rest in Peace, Ron.
You will be truly missed.
There will be no service as per Ron's wishes. Interment will take place later this spring.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Revelstoke Humane Society or Gringa's Fund (help for local animals) at Revelstoke Vet Clinic.
