May 24, 1963 - January 2, 2023
Scott Bradley Gertzen was born in Calgary, Alberta, on May 24, 1963, to George and Anne Gertzen, the third of four children. The family moved to Revelstoke, B.C. in 1965. Except for a few years, Scott was a lifelong resident of Revelstoke.
In 1987, Scott married Gisele Poirier of Revelstoke and they had two children, Robert and Sarah.
Scott worked many years as a freight conductor for CP Rail until a back injury caused him to leave the railroad in 1999.
The family moved to Edmonton in 2000. In 2002, Scott divorced and returned to Revelstoke with his son Robert, where he lived until his passing.
After returning to Revelstoke, Scott developed a passion for writing. He authored a number of manuscripts and collaborated on several screenplays. Scott had a very creative mind which served him well in his younger years as quite a prankster.
Scott loved Christmas and amusement parks. One of his favorite activities was travelling to Idaho with family and friends to visit the Silverwood amusement park.
Scott's faith in God grew increasingly in the later years of his life. He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with family at his side. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Scott is survived by his parents, George and Anne Gertzen of Revelstoke, his son, Robert (Leah) Gertzen, grandsons, Gregory, Ganicus and Wayne of Cranbrook, B.C., and daughter Sarah (Tysyn) Olynyk and grandson Sawyer, of Revelstoke, sister Audrey (James) Hjelden of Williams Lake, BC, and sister Angela (Derek) Roy of Cranbrook, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his sister Dolores (Paul) Brown of Ladysmith BC.
Memorial Services will be held at the Revelstoke Seventh Day Adventist Church, 662 Big Eddy Road, Revelstoke B.C. on Saturday, January 7th at 2:30 PM.
