Sho Takahashi, known to many as Tak and to some as the Tokyo Cowboy, passed away with family by his side at Burnaby General
Hospital on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Sho was born in Japan and immigrated to Canada at age 11. He resided in Revelstoke, BC most of his life until moving to Burnaby, BC in 2007. Sho studied at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, AB as a mechanic and worked as an auto mechanic and later as a heavy-duty mechanic at garages in Revelstoke. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Hall's Landing and going to casinos to spend time and cash at the blackjack tables. He spent many hours tinkering in the garage, yard, and garden to build or repair things.
Sho was predeceased by his father and mother Ryozo and Iku Takahashi of Revelstoke. He is survived by his wife Hozumi of Burnaby; daughter Trisha of Burnaby; son Ryan of San Francisco, CA; sister Ayako (Ajay) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, their children Ali (Jon), Logan (Erin), and Luke (Kelly) and their families.
The family are grateful for the care provided to Sho by Dr Kugyelka and Kyle at Burnaby General Hospital, and through years, several medical staff at Burnaby General and Royal Columbian Hospitals, and at Carlton Care Home. At his request, there will be no ceremony or service. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel.
