Mrs. Tracie Martel of Revelstoke passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital on January 6, 2012 at the age of 94 years; beloved mother of Sharel Warrington of Prince George, Valery Anderson of Winnipeg and Robyn Giroux of Revelstoke.


Her pioneer family moved from Council Bluffs, Iowa to High River in 1906. Born September 27, 1917 Tracie was the second youngest daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Guy Heywood.  Tracie was raised and completed her education in High River.  She won many honours in her accomplishments as a pianist.  She delighted in the arts and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge.


She was predeceased by her parents; her husband John Martel; eight siblings; one grandchild Howard Steven Warrington and two great grandchildren. Besides her three daughters, she is survived by one brother Ken Heywood of Kelowna, B.C.; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.


A funeral service was held from the Revelstoke Alliance Church on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 with Reverend Matthew Carter officiating.  Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, #201 635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B3 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 1P6, in memory of Tracie.
