In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Valerie Edna Chamberlain, who left us on December 29 in Kelowna B.C.

Valerie was beloved by all who knew her, and it is unlikely that you would meet anyone with a negative impression of her. She moved through the world with a humble grace, with her laughter and smile bringing joy to all those she encountered.

She was a mother figure to many, and always thought of others' needs before her own. She never complained, and always remained resilient. You would have to coax her to reveal she needed help with anything.

She was a long-time volunteer/manager at the hospital auxiliary thrift store and she worked as a server at Emo's Restaurant for about 25 years.

Besides enjoying lawn games, card games, and family get-togethers one of Val's greatest joys came from travelling to Mexico where she loved strolling beautiful beaches and dancing the evenings away. Ironically Val was not fond of water; during the rare occasions she decided to swim, she made every effort to keep her face above the water. Val also greatly enjoyed the various functions at the legion where she made great friends.

Valerie was a gardener and keeper of flowers, although they often had a hard life since she was on the road so much.

Val frequently hit the road to visit friends and family, her car was always filled with food, water, blankets, all manners of Tupperware and bags, and multiple changes of clothes as she might on a whim or a call from a loved one change her plans and drive off for a visit.

If you visited her, time spent in her home was like being covered in a blanket of pure love.

She is predeceased by her parents, Harold & Hazel Deugo, her brother Mike, and her sister Cathy.

She is survived by her children Lawna (Grant) & Michael, brothers Rodger (Margaret) & Jim, sisters Darlene (Miles) & Sherise (Paul), granddaughter Brooke (Nolan) and great-grandson Michael. She is also lovingly remembered by many cherished nieces and nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends.

She will be deeply missed by many.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
