Mrs. Veronica Bede passed away in Mount Cartier Court, Revelstoke, BC on the late evening of Monday, January 24, 2011 at the age of 87 years.
Born in Hungary on November 3, 1923, Veronica moved with her family to Genesee, Alberta at the age of 4, where she grew up on a farm. Veronica married Alexander Bede on February 19, 1945 at which time they moved to Revelstoke where they have resided ever since. Shortly after moving to Revelstoke daughter Roni was born and the two boys Stephen and Paul were adopted later.
Veronica is well remembered for her caring manner, always smiling, and her dedication to her Church. She was a brownie leader for many years and enjoyed being with children; she was active in many sports including golf, bowling, tennis, cross-country skiing, badminton and walking. Veronica loved to travel and she and Alex were snowbirds in Arizona for many years. She also loved her bingo and casinos, she and daughter Roni were known to frequent the casino in Vernon when the opportunity arose. Veronica loved her flower and vegetable garden and was renowned for her good cooking and baking.
Veronica leaves behind her three children and their families, daughter Roni (Gord) Thompson, Sandra, Kelly, Kristi and David; son Stephen (Louise) Bede, Alisha and Melissa; son Paul (Brenda) Bede, Whit (Jackie) Dawn, and Emilyn. She also leaves behind her good friend Alice (Jim) Lines who have been a great help to Veronica and Roni, Alice has been like another daughter. Veronica was predeceased by her mother and father; sister Irene; brother Andy and husband Alex Bede.
The funeral service was held from the Saint Francis Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Cecil Nunez officiating. A reception followed in the church, allowing the family and friends to continue sharing memories.
