January 19, 1939 - June 15, 2025

Born January 19 1939 in Vancouver BC Passed on June 15 2025 in Revelstoke BC at the age of 86.

Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen, and daughters, Margaret (Rebecca) of Vancouver and Anne (Gordon) Richardson of Revelstoke. Granddad to Chaunda, Gavin and Issac.

Bill graduated from UBC with a degree in Geology and began working for a mining company. When Margaret was little he spent his summers prospecting up north. When Anne arrived they settled in Granisle where Bill became interested in mine safety. He moved into the role of mine safety supervisor as well as teaching safety and mine rescue. Bill served as a volunteer fire chief and was involved with the ambulance service in the small town. He loved the outdoors, paddling his homemade canoe with the family and dog on Babin Lake, hiking the area, skiing, and looking at rocks!

In 1982, Bill and Helen moved the family to Revelstoke for Bill to continue his mining career. He took full advantage of the abundance of trailsin the area, hiking many of the surrounding peaks and valleys. In the winters, he enjoyed skiing.

Assisting people was a fundamental part of Bill. From his arrival in Revelstoke, volunteer work was a large part of his life. He worked for the original sale of the local ski hill, and helped raise money for the local ski team. He was very involved in the Friends of Mt. Revelstoke and Glacier, and was passionate about the parks. He was director with the Revelstoke District Health Foundation, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Revelstoke Seniors Association, Income Tax Assistance program and numerous other causes.

A life well-lived has come to a peaceful end. The cherished memories created over the years will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. Though his physical presence is gone, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family is deeply grateful for their thoughtful neighbours, and the kind and compassionate care that Bill received from his Doctors and the medical professionals who helped him continue to live his best life.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Revelstoke District Health Foundation.
