William “Bill” McInnes


October 20, 1908 - January 13, 2012


Bill was born in Wetaskiwin Alberta, October 20, 1908, the third oldest of eight children. Bill passed away January 13th, 2012 at 103 years of age.


Bill came to B.C. for a short period in his early years, from 1928 until 1930. He worked on different construction jobs at the coast and the interior.


He then returned to Czar, Alberta where he worked for other farmers and farmed himself. On November 27, 1938 with $280.00 to his name he married Ellen. They were married 73 years.


In 1945 Bill and Ellen moved to Revelstoke to work at Revelstoke Lumber and Shingle Mills owned by his brother Malcom McInnes. Later Bill had his own small sawmill for a short period. Bill worked for Kozek Sawmills as a planer man for a few years.


In 1965 he sold his house on 8th Street, moving to Terrace and working for Skeena Forest Products as a millwright until he retired. They moved to Salmon Arm and stayed there until his passing.


Bill and Ellen were predeceased by their daughter, Marcella and son Bill Jr.


Bill wrote a book of his life called “A Trip Down Memory Lane” which tells of the hardships of early years until better times of retirement.
