William Bernard (Bill) Winchcombe
1935-2010
Bill passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 29th 2010 at Queen Victoria Hospital. He had just celebrated his 75th birthday on December 6th. He was predeceased by his father Bud and his mother Olive. He is survived by his sister Jean Brensrud, nephew Dave Brensrud (Marielle), nieces Christine Schibild (Randy) and Tracey Thibeault (Ron) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Bill moved to Revelstoke in 2006 from Oliver, B.C. He spent many years in Oliver at Beaverlodge until it’s closure. He then acquired an apartment and lived on his own until a stroke forced him to give it up. He then moved to Revelstoke to be near his family. He leaves behind many friends and staff in Oliver that were like ‘family’ to him. Many thanks go to these people. Bill had resided at Mt. Cartier Court extended care for the past 4 years.
Our heartfelt thanks go to out to the ‘family’ of staff at the cottages for your care of Bill in the last 4 years. Also thanks go to out to the nurses at acute care. Many thanks go to Dr. Leslie for making Bill’s stay in the hospital as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
There will be no formal funeral service. His cremated ashes will be scattered at a later date with his immediate family present. Bill will be missed by many people, he was a very kind soul.
