Local boy helps Kamloops team to tournament victory

Revestoke's Matt Cadden (located back row, centre) celebrates with his teammates on the Kamloops Ice Pirates after winning the 2011 Pirate Challenge last weekend. The Ice Pirates won the tournament with a 7-0 victory over the Kootenay Avalanche in the finals. Kamloops went 2-1 in the round-robin portion of the tournament, defeating the Okanagan Lakers 6-4 and the BC lightning 6-3 and losing to the Avalanche 6-5 (after falling behind 6-5). In the semi-finals the Ice Pirates beat the Lakers 6-3, putting them in the finals in a rematch with the Avalanche. The team is now off to Vancouver to defend their mainland tournament title from Apr. 15-17.
