The up-track mountain bike trail construction is underway on Boulder Mountain near Revelstoke.
With three pieces of smaller equipment working their way up the trail, the construction crew started building the trail yesterday (June 20). Revelstoke Cycling Association (RCA) Executive Director, Alex Cooper, spoke in April about the up-track.
“It’s definitely been something that’s been asked for by our members for a few years. So, we’re excited that we finally get to build it,” said Cooper.
The crew on site said their efforts were assisted by the work of volunteers who cleared the trees on the path in the days before they arrived. The Revelstoke Cycling Association hosted a trail night that helped clear the path and the Columbia Zone of the Southeast Fire Centre dispatched some workers to help with the project.

The long-awaited trail is expected to have a positive effect on the rider’s experience on Boulder. Until the track is finished, riders have had to either ride up the dusty forestry service road or shuttle vehicle. Cooper said in April that the RCA hopes once the trail is completed that more riders will use the up-track and reduce the traffic on the road.
Work on the more than three kilometre trail is projected to be finished by mid-July. Although the construction crosses the existing trails, Cooper said all trails will remain open over the summer.
