Plumbers win Cheers Cup

The Battersby Plumbers defeated Emo’s Oilers 4-3 in overtime Saturday night to win the Cheers Cup as Revelstoke Men’s Hockey League champions.

“We’re the Plumbers. We just work hard. You work hard every game and good things happen,” said captain Matt McCaw.

The Plumbers defeated Barton Storm in the quarter-finals and then toppled the regular season champion Regent Royals 6-1 in the semi-finals. Emo’s had a bye to the semi-finals, where they downed the Big Eddy Idiots 12-3. The final was a tight-checking affair with the teams trading goals until the Plumbers got a power play goal in overtime for the win.
