Revelstoke goalie gets second KIJHL spotlight for series-winning shutout

A second round of recognition this season has sailed in from the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) for Revelstoke Grizzlies goalie Devin Degenstein.

The 19-year-old from Camrose, Alta., who boasts the KIJHL's highest save percentage and recently brought his team into the Okanagan Conference Final on a 3-0, 47-save shutout at Game 6 against the Princeton Posse, has yet again earned the league's Star of the Week crown.

Degenstein played 220 minutes his last four playoff games against Princeton, scoring three wins on a 0.82 goals-against average. His overall save percentage this season sits at 0.963, while lately against the Posse he notched 0.978.

Previously at Game 3, even in a m 0-4 Grizzlies loss to Princeton, Degenstein played the last 40 minutes to stop 19 of 20 shots. Game 4 saw him secure a 30-save shutout as Revelstoke came back in a 1-0 victory. And in Game 5's 5-2 triumph, Degenstein blocked 35 pucks.

The Grizzlies next play Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, at the Revelstoke Forum, kicking off the Okanagan Conference Final against the 100 Mile House Wranglers. Both games start at 7 p.m.
