The Revelstoke Ski Club is off to a great start this season. Our U16's began our competitive season in early January at Sun Peaks competing against the whole province. Their races consisted of two slalom and two giant slalom over four days. Our skiers were keeping up with the rest of the province. Top finishers were Colm Molder and Jenna Knight making the top 15.

The U14's and U12's followed up with a race at Sun Peaks on Jan 14 & 15. Skiing against the Okanagan zone with a slalom and GS, they got great results from U12's Nora Sidjak and Reed Kelly, who finished on the podium. Parker Aucoin and Noah Paltinger (U12) and Alex Jay (U14) finished in the top 10.

"The teams showed great development through the away races despite a struggle to get race training in December due to thin snow." said Ben Griffin, the club's head coach.

The Revy Carvers and All Mountain ski groups began their seasons on January 8. With the first month under their skis, they are off to a great start.

The past Sunday, Jan. 29, the Revy Carvers entered the competitive season by hosting the BC Alpine North Zone race at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. There was lots of excitement and fun watching the youngest skiers from five to 12 years old carving up the course.

Club podium finishers were Lilla Honig, Thomas Paquin, Alissa Holland, Phoebe Werner, Nick McPherson, Egan Kelly, Ben McPherson, Harrison Roe, Sienna Honig, Carolyn Simm, Madelyn Skerry, Phoenix Portras, Reed Kelly and Nora Sidjak.

"Great job to all the athletes. The effort they've put in really shows on race day," said U12 coach Gillian Blackett. "The U12's have had success at the away and home races, while the U10's made an awesome debut to racing this weekend. A big thanks to all the volunteers who made today runs smooth."

The club welcomes back many of our coaches from last year under the leadership of head coach Ben Griffin. RSC is excited to hold U12-U16 Zone race at RMR on February 11-12. If you are up at the mountain, stop by the course and watch these fast skiers.
