Cirque Du Soleil’s one-of-a-kind production Corteo is coming to Penticton for eight shows in 2024.

The production, which debuted in Montreal in 2005, has been performed in 20 countries on four continents.

When it comes to Penticton’s South Okanagan Events Centre, there will be eight performances over four days from Jan. 4 to 7.

Corteo, which means cortege in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. Combining acrobatic feats, comedy and acting, the show plunges spectators into a theatrical world of fun and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

In a carnival atmosphere, the clown pictures his own funeral taking place, watched over quietly by caring angels.

The stage is central in the arena and divides the venue in two with each half of the audience facing the other half, giving a unique perspective to the audience and the performers.

Tickets for the general public go on sale on Monday, June 5, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased online at ValleyFirstTix.com or in person at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC.
