Okanagan musician makes headlining debut

Vernon born, Kelowna resident plays Penticton

The soft, toe-tapping sounds of a Vernon-born artist are debuting in an iconic Penticton venue.

Kailee Duggan has been performing for years as an opening act for artists like Dan Mangan, Bahamas and Andrew Allen.

Now, the Kelowna resident is headlining The Dream Cafe March 1.

She is thrilled to take the stage of the Penticton venue, where many of Kailee’s own influences have played.

“The energy in Dream Cafe is so magical, since it’s always been a listening environment, artists have a chance to share their stories and really connect with the audience,” said Kailee, whose own music is a blend of soulful, folky-pop.

She writes from a vulnerable heart and shares her emotional journey from this crazy thing we call life. She also released her first single last month and would love listeners in her hometown to hear it (https://open.spotify.com/track/1).

Well-known Okanagan rhythm section and close friends, D’Arcy Booth and Dylan Ranney, will be joining her on the Dream Cafe stage.

Having backed up dozens of skilled acts such as Devon Coyote, Josh and Bex, Sherman Doucette, Leila Neverland and many more, they bring versatile skills and grooves to Kailee’s dreamlike songs.

With their extraordinary musical talent, passion and humour, this trio welcomes you to what feels like their living room, and you’re surely to leave feeling like friends.

“Music and art is an opportunity to connect and feel all the things that make us human and also all the things we can’t explain,” says Kailee, as she anticipates her show.

With the opening performers, Volunteers — a three to six piece alternative country band from the Okanagan, starting at 8 p.m. — it is recommended for those attending to get there early to enjoy a meal and conversation before the show starts, as the space is meant to be listened to.

Tickets are $20 at kaileedugganmusic.com or thedreamcafe.ca.
