Arts Revelstoke released its lineup for the fall concert series at the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre (RPAC), including a variety of performers, genres, and instruments.

Whether it’s music, a circus performance, or a documentary, the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre will have it this fall. Arts Revelstoke announced its lineup for RPAC on Thursday (Sept. 28), giving locals a chance to look ahead to all the events coming to the centre. The series starts with a bang with three performances in October, starting Friday, Oct. 6.

Starting the performance series on Friday will be Hey Viola! Based on the true story of Canadian civil and women’s rights mogul, Viola Desmond, the performance is a musical exploration of Desmond. In 1946, Desmond refused to vacate the ‘whites-only’ section of a Halifax theatre. Her protest helped spark a civil rights movement in Canada.

On Wednesday, Oct. 18, residents will have the opportunity to take a mid-week break from modernity and sit in for ‘Classical Connections’ with international pianist, Jeremy Young who will be joined by Bruce White and Daniel Bhattacharya on viola and violin, respectively. The three musicians will cover a wide range of composers, including Bach, Mozart, and the famed intergalactic works of John Williams.

On Friday, Oct. 20, RPAC will be showing the powerful story of David Shentow, who was a Second World War immigrant and Holocaust survivor. Le Chemin des Juifs: A Survivor’s Journey is a documentary that highlights human resilience. The event will include a live performance of the original film score and a discussion led by the documentary’s director.
