The Natural Selection Tour (NST) opened in Revelstoke Sunday night, March 10, with an opening ceremony held at the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre (RPAC).
Bringing 24 of the best snowboarders in the world to Revelstoke, the NST officially kicked off on Sunday night in Revelstoke. The opening ceremony introduced all the riders that would be competing, giving them a chance to choose the order that they’ll compete in for the competition.
Torstein Horgmo’s name was selected first by the randomizer, giving the Norwegian his choice of where he’d ride in the seeding.
In a quiet, self-assured tone, Horgmo bravely announced that he’d ride first, prompting thunderous applause and hollers from both the crowd and fellow riders alike at RPAC.
As the rider’s names were called, they picked their spot, eventually filling out the competitor list as follows:
• Zoi Sadowski-Synnott vs. Hailey Langland
• Marion Haerty vs. Robyn Van Gyn
• Elena Hight vs. Jamie Anderson
• Mary Rand vs. Hana Beaman
• Torstein Horgmo vs. Mark McMorris
• Dustin Craven vs. Sage Kotsenburg
• Austin Sweetin vs. Ben Ferguson
• Blake Paul vs. Mikey Ciccarelli
• Jared Elston vs. Chris Rasman
• Mikkel Bang vs. Nils Mindnich
• Torgeir Bergrem vs. Kevin Backstrom
• Red Gerard vs. Travis Rice
With the order confirmed the Natural Selection Tour Revelstoke weather window has officially opened. The riders will be told the day before when the weather aligns and the organizers give the go-ahead for the competition.
Competitors will first ride on the naturally-enhanced Montana Bowl at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Winners at the resort will advance to the final round of the tour, held in the backcountry within Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Ski’s tenure.
