Construction is set to start on a Parking lot expansion at the Mount MacPherson Nordic Centre.
The Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club (RNSC) announced on Wednesday that the parking lot and sections of popular trails will be closed as work begins.
They said heavy machinery required for the project is slated to arrive between April 25 and April 30.
As a result, sections of the main loop, (below Mountain Climb) Mickey’s (Including Titan, Dynamite and Evalyn’s) Roadway Ramble and the stadium area will be closed.
RNSC said these areas will open once the first phase of construction is complete.
The April start date is intended to eliminate parking lot closure as the bike season begins and minimize overlap with the migratory bird nesting season.
The parking lot expansion will increase its capacity by fifty per cent, and is part of a larger project that the RNSC hopes will allow it to host major competitions.

The RNSC presented their plans to the public last Thursday night at an open house hosted at the Revelstoke Community Centre.
The work slated to take place over the summer will also add an addition 3km to the clubs trail network.
The exact dates of the closure will be announced in the coming days.
