New playground and fitness equipment will help Eagle Bay residents to get physical.

Directors at the March 21 Columbia Shuswap Regional District board meeting voted unanimously to $59,787 to Parkworks for the install of playground and fitness equipment at the Eagle Bay Community Hall Park.

In her report to the board, Fiona Barton, Manager, Community Services told directors that construction documents for the park were completed by consultants McElhanney in September of 2020 and issued for tender in February 2022. And the park construction project was awarded to Steelewood Construction in May of 2022.

Remaining park components to be installed include playground and fitness equipment, safety surfacing, soft landscaping and irrigation. These portions of the contract have been removed from the Steelwood Construction and will be completed under new contracts.

The CSRD has received delivery of the playground and fitness equipment, including a Kompan Mega Deck suitable for two to five year olds, a Kompan Cubite for those ages five to 12, a two-foot Kompan Stepping Pod, a Kompan Steel Swing and a Kompan Wheelchair Carousel.

An elliptical trainer, recumbent bicycle, instruction panels, a shoulder press and a chest press will be provided to fitness fans.

The contract(s) for the remaining park improvements of safety surfacing, and soft landscaping and irrigation will be prepared under a separate process and issued for tender.
