The Revelstoke Burger Challenge was back this year, with three of 13 of the city’s best burgers going head-to-head to appease the community’s taste buds and to earn their votes.
But just three restaurants emerged as victors.
The 2023 Burger Challenge set out to crown the city’s best burgers. Hosted by Bear Aware, the challenge inspired no shortage of incredible recipes from the restaurants and bars that took part and racked up more than 600 votes.
This year’s challenge even included an impressive burger cocktail from Monashee Distillery. In the end, it was Paramjit’s Kitchen, Craft Bierhaus and Chubby Funsters that got the top three votes.
1. Paramjit’s Kitchen
Paramjit’s Kitchen took the top spot with 83 votes for its burger. For those who didn’t get to have one of Paramjit’s burgers, it was made with marinated fried tandoori chicken thigh on Asian coleslaw, topped with satay sauce and guacamole, and served with bhaji rings.
2. Craft Bierhaus
Craft Bierhaus’s ‘The Bierhaus’ burger proved a worthy competitor to Paramjit’s, raking in 76 votes. The Bierhaus was a double smashburger with a charcoal bun, Haus-made cheese, smoked barbecue sauce and a side of brisket tot hash.
3. Chubby Funsters
Coming in at number three, Chubby Funsters’ ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ burger earned 64 votes to take the last spot on the Burger Challenge podium. Chubby’s burger was a spiced grilled duck patty, topped with confit duck and a gooseberry ginger marmalade, served on a potato bun with arugula, house pickles, and duck fat aioli.
The Revelstoke Burger Challenge would not have happened without the burgers that the local restaurants who contributed created. This year, Old School Eatery, Paramjit’s Kitchen, Quartermaster, Woolsey Creek Bistro, Big Ben Café, Chubby Funsters, Big Eddy Pub, Village Idiot, Monashee Distillery, 112 Restaurant, The River City Pub, Craft Bierhaus, and Taco Club all created a unique burger for the community to enjoy.
