Josh Bredo has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2011 death of Revelstoke native Daniel Levesque.

The details of the case were read out in a jointly agreed upon statement of facts in the Victoria Law Courts on Monday morning. They painted a picture of how Bredo was sexually attracted to Levesque, who worked with him at a Victoria 7/Eleven store.

Court heard that Bredo crafted a false story in which Levesque was being groomed for a high-paying job at a local law firm, and that Levesque was waiting for an orientation session that never materialized. When he determined that there was no job, Levesque and Bredo had an argument and scuffle which ended with Bredo striking Levesque in the head multiple times with a hammer and later cutting himself to alter the scenario.

Victim impact statements from Levesque’s family were due to be read after the proceedings took a short recess.

More to come later.
