Begbie View Elementary.
The decision was announced at the April 18 meeting of the Revelstoke Board of Education. School board chair Alan Chell said the name was chosen from about 60 entries. Some suggestions were of historic places, others of famous people, others simply names.
From the 60 entries they narrowed it down and chose a combination of Mt. Begbie Elementary and Mountain Elementary – the two schools that will be merged into the new one.
The new elementary school is scheduled to open for the start of the 2012-13 school year.
