The driver of a tractor-trailer was airlifted to hospital following a crash in Glacier National Park Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened about 60 kilometres east of Revelstoke at a spot called Rainbow Corner when the semi flipped over, partially blocking the eastbound lane, said Cpl. Thomas Blakney of the Revelstoke RCMP.
"According to a witness, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit the barrier, causing the truck to flip," said Blakney. "Skidmarks at the scene are consistent with what the witness had said with regards to speed."
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, complained of head and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops in stable condition.
The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been laid, said Blakney.
Nothing was spilled from the trailer during the crash.
