Eagle Pass Heliskiing is applying to build a new lodge on Highway 23 south of Revelstoke.
Eagle Pass submitted an application with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District to amend the Rural Revelstoke Official Community Plan in order to build a 16-bedroom lodge, heli-pad, maintenance facilities, staff accommodation and a day lodge at a property on Highway 23 South near Nelson Road.
The company is seeking to re-designate the property from rural resource to resort commercial. The board of the CSRD gave the application first reading at its meeting last week.
The first phase of construction calls for a 16-room guest lodge with an outdoor hot tub, dining area and bar at the rear of the property. There will also be a heli-pad and fueling facilities built as part of phase one.
Future plans call for a spa, a private lodge, maintenance shed, guide room, first aid room, a day lodge and a heli-pad for day trip customers.
No one from Eagle Pass returned a call for an interview about their plans.
Eagle Pass has used a number of locations for its lodge over the years, including the Griffin Lake Mountain Lodge, Three Valley Gap Chateau, Mulvehill Creek Wilderness Inn, and its current location the Echo Point Lodge – a large private home off Airport Way that it received a temporary commercial use permit for.
