A public art piece will add a splash of colour to Williamson Lake when it’s installed this summer.
Revelstoke City Council approved the installation of a colourful archway, created by artist Turbo Bambi, at the edge of Williamson Lake this summer at a regular council meeting on June 13.
Claudia Simon, also known as Turbo Bambi, is a Revelstoke-based artist with a passion for the outdoors whose pieces have been featured around the community. Her ‘I Hugged a Bear in Revelstoke’ piece is displayed on the side of the City Furniture building on Victoria Rd.
“By incorporating a colourful and art-doorsy installation to the park, it has the potential to enhance the experience of visitors while showcasing local art” said Bambi in her proposal to the City of Revelstoke.
The piece is an eight-foot-tall stand-alone archway painted in bright greens and oranges.
