A man was airlifted to hospital after striking his head on a rock in Williamson's Lake on Tuesday.
Revelstoke RCMP say that 36-year-old from Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., hit his head after he dove into shallow water at the popular local swim hole at around 4:30 p.m.
"Fortunately a friend noticed the male in obvious discomfort and managed to get him to shore and render First Aid as the male had sustained a large cut to the head," wrote Cpl. Thomas Blakney in a news release.
The man was taken to Queen Victoria Hospital and later air-lifted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. At the time of transport he was conscious but having trouble breathing and experiencing numbness in his arms and legs.
He is currently said to be in critical, but stable condition.
The RCMP is warning people to be aware of the what lurks beneath the surface when they go cool off in the water.
