The RCMP are asking for public assistance finding a 56-year-old Revelstoke man who was last seen on Sept. 18, 2011.
Rory Wayne McGillivray was last seen on Sept. 18 in Kamloops when he visited his son who lives in the 1700-block of Tranquille Road.
Following that visit, McGillivray was scheduled to drive back to Revelstoke on September 18th or 19th. He has not been seen since leaving his son's home and has not contacted family members.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Bernie Ward said Revelstoke and Kamloops RCMP have investigated McGillivray's disappearance but have not made significant progress.
They describe McGillivray as six-feet tall, balding with blue eyes. A photo of McGillivray is not yet available for release.
Cst. Ward said the missing man had serious physical health problems that would likely have required treatment between the time of his disappearance and now. However, McGillivray was not known to have existing mental health issues.
Ward said a key to finding McGillivray will be locating his vehicle, which has not turned up since his disappearance. It is a black, 2008 Subaru Outback with the B.C. license plate 540-SHE.
McGillivray is an electrician by trade and was known to travel extensively throughout the province for work. In addition to Kamloops and Revelstoke, he also had roots in the Harrison Hot Springs area.
RCMP say another cause for concern is the fact that McGillivray's vehicle insurance expired in September and it has not been renewed.
McGillivray is not known to be an outdoorsman and didn't have a history of accessing the backcountry.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story spelled McGillivray's family name incorrectly.
