Revelstoke's media outlets are joining forces again to host the Columbia River-Revelstoke all-candidates forum on April 20.
The Revelstoke Review, Revelstoke Current, Revelstoke Mountaineer, EZ Rock, Stoke FM and Reved are hosting the debate at the community centre on Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m.
The two main candidates – Doug Clovechok of the Liberal Party and Gerry Taft of the NDP – confirmed they will attend, as will independent candidate Justin Hooles. We have also invited Samson Boyer of the Green Party, while the BC Conservative Party does not have a candidate for the riding.
The format of the debate will be similar to that of the 2015 federal debate, which was also hosted by the local media and was well received by the community.
The public is invited to submit questions in advance. The organizers will then get together and review the questions to ensure they are relevant, diverse and reflective of major issues. The deadline to submit questions is Monday, April 17.
Former mayor Dr. Geoff Battersby, a Member of the Order of Canada, will act as moderator.
