The Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. is hosting an information session at the Revelstoke Seniors Citizens Association next week.

The event will be held at the Revelstoke Seniors Association at 603 Connaught Ave. next Wednesday (May 3) from 10 a.m. to noon. The info session is free, but registration is required for entry. To sign up, call the First Link Dementia Helpline at 1 800 936-6033.

Dementia isn’t a singular disease. The term is a catch-all for a combination of symptoms caused by disorders that affect the brain.

Based on a report from 2020, there were nearly 600,000 Canadians living with dementia — that number is expected to expand by 2030 to more than 950,000.

The event is meant to inform people about dementia and to discuss the different resources available to people at any stage of the disease.
