The Revelstoke RCMP seized 120 marijuana plants and 130 pounds of marijuana in two separate highway stops last week, said Cpl. Mike Wasylenski in a news release.

The first seizure occurred on Friday, Nov. 22, at around 11 a.m., when an officer from Trans Canada East Traffic Services stopped a vehicle east of Revelstoke carrying the 120 marijuana plants.

A 39-year-old Calgary resident was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The second stop was on Sunday, Nov. 24, at around 8:30 a.m., when a vehicle stop on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke led to the seizure of 130 pounds of marijuana and $4,000 in cash.

A 21-year-old female and 46-year-old male, both from Saskatoon, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of a crime.

There was no immediate word from the RCMP if there was a connection between the two incidents.
